Senior Kevin Hwang set the tone when he gathered in the opening kickoff and raced 84 yards down the left sideline to propel Park Ridge into a quick 7-0 lead as the Owls went on to vanquish the combined Palisades Park/Leonia squad 40-0 on a damp Friday evening at Lombardi Stadium on the Overpeck County Park in Leonia on Friday evening.
Matt Moreno excelled on both sides of the ball for the Owls. He hauled in a 26-yard TD strike from quarterback Matt Misley in the second quarter and picked off a Tiger aerial in the third quarter that he returned 36 yards into the end zone. Tom Klepper broke loose on 21 and 42 yard TD runs with Misley hitting John Duffy on a 10-yard TD pass in the second quarter.

at Depken Field, Hasbrouck Heights

Quarterback Bobby Kistner hooked up with Mike Messeri on a four-yard TD strike early in the opening quarter and Ryan Condal split the uprights with his extra point placement to ignite the Aviators on a 41-point burst in the first half as Hasbrouck Heights defeated Emerson 41-14 in the opening game for both teams.
Steve Zahn scampered 11 yards to paydirt and Kistner raced four yards into the end zone as the Aviators led 21-0 entering the second quarter.
